Getting started
Install Themia, place your first widget, and understand what lives on your desktop.
Install
Themia runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The installer is under 10 MB and needs no runtime beyond the WebView2 component Windows already ships.
- Download the installer from the home page.
- Run it. Windows SmartScreen may ask for confirmation the first time a new version is published.
- Themia starts and places a first widget on your desktop.
There is nothing to sign up for. Accounts only come into it if you later connect a mail or calendar widget, and those connect to your provider, not to us.
What Themia actually is
Widgets live on the desktop, underneath your normal windows, not in a panel or a sidebar. They sit at the wallpaper layer: open an app over them and they disappear behind it, minimize everything and they’re there.
That means Themia does not take screen space away from your work. It uses the space you already lose to wallpaper.
Your first widget
Right-click an empty patch of desktop and choose Add widget, or press Ctrl + W. The picker opens with every widget grouped by category, a search box, and a live preview of whichever entry you’re pointing at.
Click one and it lands on the desktop. From there:
- Drag it to move it.
- Drag an edge or corner to resize.
- Right-click it for its context menu: view switching, header options, configure, remove.
Free and Pro
The free tier is not a trial. It runs indefinitely with 10 widgets across 2 screens, and every widget type is available. Nothing is held back behind the paywall.
Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It lifts the widget and screen limits. See Licensing and limits for exactly what changes.
Where to go next
- Widget basics: headers, configuration, transparency, pop-out windows.
- Screens and views: different layouts per monitor and per context.
- Widgets: a reference page for each of the 50 widgets.
