What it does
Shows sunrise and sunset times and the current moon phase for a location you pick, with a graphic of the sun’s path across the day and optional event markers.
Set the location by searching for a city; the widget stores its coordinates and uses the city name as the header label.
Where the data comes from
Nothing is fetched. Sun times are computed on your machine from the standard sunrise equation, and the moon phase likewise. The widget works with no network connection at all, and no request carrying your location is ever made.
The one thing that touches the network is searching for a city when you first configure it.
Limits
- This widget is marked experimental.
- Coordinates are set by picking a city; there is no raw latitude/longitude entry.
- Above the Arctic and Antarctic circles, polar day and polar night are reported as such rather than as invented sunrise and sunset times.
- Times are astronomical; they do not account for local terrain or horizon obstruction.
