Web search
A search box on the desktop that opens results in your browser.

- Default size
- 320 × 56
What it does
A single text box. Type a query, press Enter, and the results open in your default browser. The box clears itself afterwards, ready for the next one.
Four engines are supported: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Startpage.
Blank and whitespace-only queries are ignored rather than opening an empty results page.
Where the data comes from
Nothing is fetched by the widget. Your query is URL-encoded and handed to your browser, which is what makes the request, so the search is subject to your browser’s own settings, extensions and privacy configuration, exactly as if you had typed it there.
Themia does not see, log or transmit your queries.
Limits
- This widget is marked experimental.
- The engine list is a closed set; custom search URLs are not supported. An unrecognized configured engine falls back to Google.
- No suggestions, autocomplete or search history.
- Results always open in the browser; nothing is rendered in the widget.
